Taron Pipoyan

Geopolitics Analyst

Taron Pipoyan is a former Armenian Army Officer. He is experienced in global security and risk assessments, geopolitics, International Relations theories with a particular focus on realism, together with small state foreign policy. Taron previously worked at a London-based consultancy as an analyst covering nuclear-related developments in Turkey and research assistant at King’s College London. His research interests intersect with the international politics of the Middle East and South Caucasus, Russian-Iranian relations, international security policy and politics of international trade. 

 

Taron holds an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics (LSE), focusing on Economic Diplomacy, International Politics and Foreign Policy Analysis. He also earned a BA in Politics from King’s College London (KCL), specialising in International Relations, Politics and Security Studies and Iranian foreign policy. 

 

His forthcoming article, co-authored with Dr Gustav Meibauer, “Handling the hegemon: Permissiveness, ideas, and Armenia’s limited hedging in the face of Russian assertiveness” focuses on how small states navigate geopolitical environments dominated by more powerful states.
