IGE Legacy
The Institute for a Greater Europe (IGE) was founded in 2018 as a pioneering youth-led think tank in Brussels. It emerged at a time of significant political change in Europe, aiming to bridge cultural and political divides through research, dialogue, and advocacy. The IGE quickly became a vital platform for young scholars, researchers, and professionals to influence European policy and integration discussions. It was distinguished by its inclusive approach, engaging voices from across the continent in addressing critical issues such as European unity, governance, and cultural exchange.

The IGE's flagship publication, the "Greater European Journal," along with its numerous conferences and public events, created a vibrant community of thinkers dedicated to the idea of a more integrated and cooperative Europe. Through these efforts, the IGE not only contributed to academic and policy debates but also inspired a new generation of European leaders committed to the ideals of unity and collaboration.

In 2024, the Europinion Institute for Research (EIR) was established, taking over the legacy of the IGE. This transition was motivated by a recognition that the challenges facing Europe and the world had evolved, requiring a broader, more comprehensive approach. The EIR was created to expand upon the IGE's foundation, integrating its mission with the dynamic media platform of Europinion and the investigative storytelling of Volta, the documentary wing of the Europinion Group.

The decision to incorporate the IGE into the Europinion Group was driven by a shared commitment to rigorous, independent research and impactful public engagement. The EIR continues the IGE's tradition of fostering dialogue and understanding but does so within a larger framework that connects research with journalism, media production, and public outreach.

Our vision at the EIR is to build on the IGE’s achievements by deepening our research capabilities, broadening our scope to address global as well as European issues, and enhancing our impact through integrated media channels. We believe that informed debate and innovative research are essential to addressing the complex challenges of our time, from climate change and security to social inequality and technological transformation.

By taking over the IGE, the Europinion Institute for Research is committed to preserving its legacy while advancing a bold new agenda. We aim to be at the forefront of shaping policy, influencing public opinion, and driving meaningful change in Europe and beyond.
